The Christian Race

So while studying my bible this afternoon, I was in Luke 17:11-20.

It was the story of the ten lepers who got healed and only one came back to thank God.

The bible made it a point to note that he was a Samaritan, and immediately, my head started to rove and alas it landed, just where I wanted it to land.

The Samaritan woman at the well and other Samaritans Jesus encountered during His ministry time on earth, And the Samaritan man who helped a robber.

Now,I got thinking...

Samaritans in Jerusalem are a representation of some of us today who wear trousers to church, who fix our hair, who do make up, who leave our hair uncovered during a church service, some of us who wear not so long as maxi gowns and above the knee skirts.

Samaritans are those of us who question some of the stories we do not understand in the bible so we seek clarifications, and some of us who often wonder aloud if hell and heaven are real, And some of us whose bodies have been covered in tattoos.

We are not self righteous, we do not say we are spotless and 'wrinkleless' and without sin or stain, we still work out our salvation daily, because we are on a journey and we know it.

We are those who have not entered into a church building in the last years because we have not seen a need to, especially after the previous encounters we had.

We are those who take strong wine for the stomach sake and those who party reallllly hard.

But some things are synonymous with us,
WE HAVE A HEART.
WE ARE GRATEFUL.
AND WE HELP OTHERS, not out of the cold hands of duty but because we genuinely see the need to help.

You see, the bible was careful to note the way the Samaritans behaved, and most times, it contrasts it with the way the JEWS behaved.

The Jews were/are the tongue talking, 'spirit' filled, head banging in prayer, long skirts and long gown wearer, those big trousers and over-sized shirt wearing persons, whose eyes will never behold evil, neither will they be found in the midst of 'SINNERS who according to my analysis I'd call SAMARITANS, they would only be seen with them if/when they are about to CONDEMN, and SENTENCE THEM TO HELL WITH THEIR WORDS, EYES AND 'SEGREGATIONAL' ATTITUDE all in the name of evangelism and trying to convert them.

The Jews are those self righteous, my-hands-have-made-me-clean kind of believers. Who never do make up, nor retouch or fix weave-ons or attachments to their natural hair, nor do they have tattoos.

It is very important that note that though the Samaritans were looked down on by the Jews and would not do business or even talk with them, yet scripture points us to the fact that their hearts were/are made of gold.

The story of the Samaritan man who helped a man beaten by armed robbers, who was ignored by A JEW PRIEST and LEVITE stands out for me as one of the best stories and example of selfless love, one so unconditional.

A few years ago, a white woman visited Nigeria and found a baby left to die in a bush/forest because the villagers said the baby was evil. This woman carried this boy, and began taking care of him.
Social media was gutted on fire because the said woman had tattoos on. Such a trivial thing, yet, it was enough to make the self righteous JEWS angry and judgemental.

Today, every day, we hear, see and read of such instances and it still marvels me.

There are indeed GOOD AND SELFLESS JEWS BUT BECAUSE THE CROP OF SELF RIGHTEOUS JEWS OUTNUMBER THEM, IT MAKES IT QUITE DIFFICULT FOR THEIR VOICES TO BE HEARD, BUT GOLD FISHES CANNOT BE HIDDEN.

While the Christian race is on, we shouldn't forget the important points to note.

1. Love.
share and give it as a lifestyle.

2. Gratitude.
be grateful for every and anything.

3. Be selfless.
the race is not about you.

4. Stop being judgement.
it was not you that hung on the cross and died for the sins of the world. Jesus Christ did.
